Dinner In White
On the Columbia
Dinner in White on the Columbia River is a very special gathering of people for a unique experience to enjoy good food, great music, and the company of other wonderful people. It is also a fundraiser for projects that enhance the quality of life in the Camas-Washougal area. This year this event will help fundraise for the Washougal Library Building Fund.
Dinner in White is fashioned after Dîner en Blanc which started out in France over 25 years ago by François Pasquier who invited a few friends to the Bois de Boulogne one day in June. To find each other in the park, they all wore white. The dinner was such a success that they decided the next year, each person would invite some other friends and the event grew organically into the 10000+ dinner it is today.
Come and be part of this beautiful and fun event in our version of this event and enjoy the scenic beauty - a spectacular view of Mt Hood along the Columbia River and a breathtaking sunset.
Guest must wear white. Get fancy, sassy and crazy. White wigs welcome, and don't forget your dancing shoes.
Guests will dress their table to their desire (bring out your best table ware) and bring along an amazing feast to show off your cooking skills! There is a competition for the Best Dressed Table.
It’s another excuse for us to get together and "celebrate our uniqueness."

A Guide To Dinner In White On The Columbia - What to wear
White attire is de rigueur! We encourage you to dress in white, elegant fashion from any era. Be sure to have fun with it, wear hats, accessories and get creative with your attire to expresses your own appreciation for style, fashion and beauty. Accessories and shoes need not be white, as long as the overall effect of your outfit is white! This year we are adding the prizes for the best dressed couple, Woman and Man.
Tables and Chairs
We will provide tables & chairs. Guests will provide their own table decor including white table cloths and napkings. The tables are 8' long x 30" and meant to seat 8 guests -Please only decorate the part of the table where you and your guest are sitting. Sharing is caring.
So that large parties can buy their tickets separately but ensure they sit together, seating is first come first served. If you have a large party make sure to arrive as close to the event opening at 4pm as possible so that you will all be able to sit together. Each 8’ x 30” table is designed to seat a maximum of 8 guests. If you have a smaller party expect to share your space and bring enough table décor to cover just enough space for your party.
Once set, each table at the event is an elegant, beautiful place for you and your party to dine in style! Get creative as you wish - we would love to see real silverware, candelabras, candlesticks, vases of flowers and whatever else expresses your vision. This is your elegant dinner party for your group within this grand event – have fun! You will bring silverware, plates, serving ware, glasses, and whatever other tables accessories you wish. There is "ambient" lighting at the venue, but you will be responsible for lighting your own tables as you like - there is no electricity at the site so you will need to bring candles or battery operated lights/candles. Don't forget your white napkin for the waving of the white napkin.
This event is meant to inspire the master chefs inside us all! Feel free to bring hors d’oeurves, an entrée, and a special dessert for your elegant dinner party picnic. To help complete your designer dinner, we will have Cocktails, Wine including Bubbles, and Craft Beer available for purchase.
What we provide
Table & Chairs
We will have some great items to auction off in our silent auction so plan on a little shopping.
Some other Tips
The doors open at 4 pm so you have enough time to set up, mingle, view the auction items, have some cocktails. Dinner begins promptly at 6 pm with the traditional waving of the white napkin which signifies the event space as been successfully occupied. Though the dinner starts at 6 pm we do encourage you to bring appetizers so you can eat before the dinner, we don't want anyone fainting!
